Procurement Route: Partnering - JCT 1998 with Contractors Design
Contract Sum: £5 million
Commencement Date: February 2004
Completion Date: February 2007
Project Description: As part of a developer consortium comprising Wimpey, McClean, Prowting, Persimmon, Westbury and McAlpine, McCann designed and built 63 mixed-tenure new homes, providing the project with its affordable housing element.
Project Challenges: Working with such major national private developers made it essential to deliver to time, cost, quality and safety.
We involved all the stakeholders to achieve the Section 106 affordable housing element of this large strategic site. We’re now using the Eynsbury model as a template for delivering and working up a number of opportunities where developers are looking to outsource the affordable housing element of larger strategic sites to a constructor better placed to deliver in accordance with Housing Corporation Scheme Development Standards and
the Code for Sustainable Homes.
